We are pleased to say that Adult Life Programs’ Hickory Center is the only day adult healthcare site in Catawba County. Individuals with more intense health needs, such as diabetes, wounds care, tube feeding, injections, incontinence, etc. can be cared for at our Hickory location.
FOCUS
The Hickory facility, built in 2002, is licensed for 50 participants and its design meets the needs of those with Alzheimer’s disease who wander. To ensure excellent care and the needed attention, the Hickory Center maintains a minimum participant to staff ratio of 6:1.
FACILITIES and SERVICES
The physical facility includes a healthcare wing with a room for participants who may need to lie down during the day, an exam room and an accessible shower. (For an additional fee, as a service for caregivers, Adult Life Programs can provide bathing for participants.)
The Hickory site is also unique in having a full-service beauty salon for participants (and anyone else) open on Fridays by appointment only. This is just one more way that Adult Life Programs strives to assist caregivers in taking care of their loved ones enabling them to remain in their own homes.
In order to provide a safe and comfortable outdoor area for participants, the facility has a secure covered outdoor area with rocking chairs.
